RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

2002-present: National Study Leader for one of the Canada’s National Studies with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.

Provide leaderships to scientists (across the country) who are involved in this National Study;

Conceive and define the goals and objectives of the National Study, and provide the direction of specific research projects for individual research centres/sites/stations and scientists;

Prepare budget and human resources information, and provide recommendations of resource requirements to Science Directors;

Coordinate research activities of the National Study across the country.

1998-present: Study Leader for program “Cropping Systems for Dryland Agriculture”, at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Swift Current, SK, Canada.

Formulate and initiate research projects in diverse cropping systems;

Develop strategies and recommendations for production of alternative crops for sustainable agriculture development;

Prepare grant applications for external funding. In the past 5 years, received approval of external funding totaling about $2.8 million;

Plan, design, and oversee multi-disciplinary research projects;

Supervise senior and junior technicians, term staff up to 12/year;

Organize and host various field days, tours, and host international, national, and regional delegates/visitors;

Prepare and present talks at various meetings, workshops, and conferences; and provide media interviews.

1994-1998: Post-Doctorate Research Associate, with fellowship from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), Agriculture & Agri Food Canada, Swift Current, CANADA.
